Wrecks Service

The UKHO's Wrecks Database offers invaluable information for divers, fishermen (commercial and recreational) and researchers, containing some 70,000 records.

Although the majority of information in the database centres on UK territorial waters, the database also contains information about wrecks in a variety of areas worldwide.

Search parameters across the database can take a variety of forms, for example:

• 14.8 metre wreck shown in position 51° 03.00' N 01° 16.71' E on chart 1892
• All wrecks within the area 52° N - 53° 32.5' N, 07° 56' W - 08° 43.56W
• All wrecks lying in 20-30 metres between Exmouth and Portland
• SS Galicia in Lyme Bay, south coast of England
• All wrecks over 250 tons lying between Berwick and Leith
• All wrecks sunk between two given dates in the Bristol Channel
• All wrecks within 5 miles of the coast between Padstow and St Ives
• All wrecks which had a cargo of coal between Anglesey and the Isle of Man

Positions quoted are referred to both the local and WGS84 datum.

On receipt of an enquiry, customers will be given a named contact, their search requirements will be ascertained and an initial search made of the database.

Once the initial search has been undertaken, customers will be provided with a quotation for the cost of supplying a dataset or datasets, details of the cost of any deliveries if applicable together with details of payment and delivery.  A minimum search fee for the supply of up to seven charted wrecks will apply.

Only when the customer is satisfied, and following clearance of payment, will the information be despatched. As data is produced specifically to a customer’s requirements, there is no right to cancel or return goods.
